There is a lot of controversy surrounding the silver labradoodle. The controversy is mostly about why they have the appearance that they have. The most common scientific argument is that they came about as a result of diluted genes. They are thought to be a diluted version of the chocolate Labrador. Another version regarding the origin of these dogs is that they were developed intentionally by crossbreeding labradoodles with Weimaraner. When in need of Silver lab puppies Fresno should be visited.

These dogs, just like any other labs, are outgoing and sociable. Just like any other labs, they have same characteristics and temperament. For many years, they have been family dogs to many people. This was not the case before however. Originally, they were used to retrieve ducks in Newfoundland. In the 1800s, the British who explored Canada loved them so much that they had to carry some back home.

The Britons developed the labs they brought back home from Canada with them. The input of the Britons has led to these dogs sometimes being referred to as Silver English Labs. The labs took several years before they were introduced in the United States. The AKC made its first registration of the breed in 1917.

After the AKC made its first registration, these dogs started to appear in the US after only three years. Despite the fact that they were introduced in the US all those years back, they have remained somewhat a rare breed in the country. Some breeders have continued to view these dogs as not being pure labs and that has contributed to them being rare. The fact that they are fare usually makes them very expensive, selling for between 800 and 1500 USD.

In terms of health, these dogs are just like any other species of labs. They suffer from Patella Luxation, Hip Dysplasia, and Elbow Dysplasia. Hip and Elbow dysplasia is a common condition in most labs and it is characterized by the development of an abnormal development in the joints. The abnormal development occurs in the elbow or hip joints and it is characterized by a lot of discomfort, pain, altered gait, and lameness.

There is a diluted gene which is believed to cause silver color in the canines and which leads to a specific condition called color dilution alopecia. This is an inherited condition passed down by parents to puppies. This condition is characterized by loss and thinning of hair, which makes the skin to itch. The gene which causes the diluted color usually leads to hair follicles to be abnormal, making it hard for hair to grow.

Silver labs are highly trainable. When training, they show best response when one uses positive reinforcement and reward based training. The whole family should be involved in the training process. Basic commands like stay, sit, stand, down, and paw should be taught using food treats. One should begin training at the earliest for best results.

These dogs will eat anything since they are scavengers. Unlike most other dogs, these dogs are not choosy with what they eat. Also, they can eat from garbage bins, palms and floors. The dogs are capable of attaining weights of between 55 and 80 pounds. Their average height is around 21 to 25 inches when fully grown.
