Removing Dirt In Maytag Dishwasher Parts

By Amy Cox

Some people think that because utensils washing machines handle water day in day out, they do not need cleaning. The truth is, just like sinks, various components of such appliances attract particles which either stick to surfaces or clog holes. If they are not extracted, your appliance will not serve you as expected. Normally, several guidelines are followed while cleaning Maytag Dishwasher parts. The following paragraphs briefly explain the basics of cleaning your machine.

Dirt removal process begins with disassembling various elements of utensils appliances. This is to facilitate the proper washing of every module as well as contact points. After that, dip smaller components in a disinfected solution. If one does not have recommended washing detergent, lemon or vinegar mixed in water can work in place of detergents. Components should be left soaked for a while to loosen clogged debris. Meanwhile, owners may be washing other surfaces previously in contact with that machine.

Notably, racks and holders are too big to fit in a solution container. Similar components which cannot be soaked should also be removed and wiped properly. It is common for particles of food to stick on joints. Since these cannot be reached by wipers, pull them using a thin stick such as toothpicks. If they are too stuck, pour some water first then wait for some time before removing.

This is followed by unblocking arm nozzles. Notably, clean holes should allow water to flow through freely. If it does not happen, then some holes are clogged. Using a small stick, pull out waste from these nozzles. If they are too small, bend a thin wire then fix a hook to pick dirt starting with nozzles furthest from arm middle. If that does not work, one may drill a bigger opening where an arm ends then let water flow to remove stuck matter. The drilled hole will later be sealed with a screw.

This is followed by wiping external components. They include doors and gaskets. Using a damp rag soaked in the vinegar solution, carefully wipe edges and door surfaces. If there are thicker particles hard to wipe, brush with a used toothbrush then wipe off removed dirt. Note some lower parts of your machine do not meet with water often. For this reason, look out for such and wipe well.

Due to being constantly damp, some modules develop molds as well as mildew. For this, one may require a bleaching solution to wipe them off. However, this is not much recommended as results are not always desirable. To avoid such instances in future, dry off each component properly before fitting them back.

As mentioned earlier, some components may accumulate rust with continued usage. Unfortunately, rust is out of your control since it is caused by natural substances. For instance, your water may be having excess iron. For this reason, it is advisable to look for expert help.

At this point, all basic modules are clean. Following your manual, fit every section back to its original position. Ensure elements that need screwing are tightened enough. Before returning cables to sockets, make sure they are dry. Cleaning is not a one-off thing. Thus, if you want your appliance to serve you as long as possible, carry out maintenance activities such as cleaning regularly.
