Knowing More About Non-Duality

By Alxa Robin

Non-dualism or Advaita is one of the oldest Indian Philosophy. It is known to have its origin in the eight century and teachings were then given by Sri Shanaracharya; however Advaita philosophy has been followed since the end of Vedic age.

Advaita tells us that everything that exists is one, no one is different from one another and is somehow connected and this oneness is named as a Brahman. The subject and the object are connected to one another in some way and everything that exists without differentiating them is nothing but Brahman. Advaita tells us that there is no other existence other than Brahman.

Advaita simply preaches going beyond the limits of religions, philosophies and nationalities, surpass everything to become one. The experience of non-duality doesn't divide but unites everyone under the same fundamentals. There are fanatic members that might not agree to the different religions being one and their concepts of God.

Lastly it is the Advaita Vedanta, the strongest of all the schools; it simply depicts non-dualism or monism. It shows that everything that we know has only one reality and nothing is separate at all. It does not deny the existence of the universe; however the reality is only relatively real or can be called as ambiguous.

Irrespective of the state of the candle the matter and energy remained constant and it is the only reality. It has been found that there is something absolute in the forms of matter and energy too. Similarly, there shall be a basic reality between all the ever-changing phenomena of the world.

It sometimes becomes essential to have a spiritual teacher for your self-realization and enlightenment. It is the role of a teacher to teach its disciple and help them in the realisation; however the teacher might look to the disciple as a different individual but the teacher has established its knowledge as universal consciousness.

When you consider the Advaita Vedanta philosophy, there is no reality for the creation or divine intervention. The only known reality is the principle of oneness and from it comes the reality of the world and it might not exist without it. The world is the result of the contraction and expansion of the universe and this is a natural cycle that cannot be controlled nor worked at will.

Irrespective of the continuous flow of our individual consciousness, there is something very absolute that keeps it all together. According to Advaita, it makes the final conclusion that there can be only one Absolute in the universe and the Absolute that lies as the base of our consciousness is the same Absolute that lies at the base of the phenomena of the universe.
