Tanning the skin is a practice that most people enjoy doing. When people go to beach, they may lie exposed to the sun to get a good tan. Others may also buy tanning lotions that are in various beauty parlors. Despite the various dangers associated with sun self tanning, people are still staying exposed in sun rays without SPF protection to have tanned skin.



Some studies have indicated that too much exposure to UV rays can lead to one having different kinds of skin cancer. There can also be a very bad effect on the immune system, thus it may not function well. It is essential for an individual to evaluate all the pros and cons of self tanning before they can indulge in this practice on their self. Research on tanning will enable a person to make an informed decision.

Sun self tanning or any other kind is not permanent. It will usually fade after a few weeks and since someone looked well having tanned skin, one is likely to do it again. This is like medicine doze that a person goes for every now and then. It can be very harmful especially if someone is sunbathing very often to have tanned and beautiful skin.



Studies have also shown that tanning using the sun can lead to the skin ageing faster. Every individual would want to stay young as long as possible but one will grow old at one point. Self exposure to sun rays however can lead to one ageing faster by having premature wrinkles. The skin also becomes dry and rough due to exposure to sunlight

An individual tanning their skin using the sun on their self can also lead to a person developing sunburn. When a sunburn is not severe, it is not so bad but if a sunburn is extreme, it is very painful. The skin becomes red and an individual has to stay indoors for a period or wear a hat when going out so that sunburn can heal. This can led to one wasting a lot of time staying in doors to get well when they could be doing something more constructive.

Every person has a specific skin color. Various things like sun rays may affect the skin color. It is therefore important for one to have SPF protection when sunbathing however, when a person is self skin tanning in the sun they are required not to have any sunscreen. The effect of sun rays leads to skin discoloration.

Several people have sensitive skin and are required not to expose themselves to too much sunlight for a long time. Some of this people do not follow the instructions of the doctor and they end up tanning their skin in sun rays due to their desire for beauty. They may thus develop serious blisters that can be very painful and take a long time to get well.

Sun self tanning will give a person a great appearance but one should consider at what cost. An individual would not want to be only forty and they look like they are sixty due to wanting a self tan in sunlight. Tanned skin can be good but a person has to evaluate all the options before indulging in any kind of tanning.
