Features Of A Carpet Shampoo

By Michelle Campbell

Knowing what you need in a cleaning soap is very important to help you make the right choice for your cleaning needs. Every fabric contains dirt that needs to be dislocated for it to become clean and it is only a good soap that will be able to provide that effect. Consider good criteria for soap selection. View their components first before you purchase them to make sure that what you select is what you intended. Below are characteristics of a carpet shampoo.

Ability to leather. Without leather, there is no cleaning ability, the more the leather, the more effective the cleaning action is. A good liquid soap contains foam boosters that increase the amount of bubble and also the size of the bubble. These bubbles are the transport vehicles of dirt from the fabric surface to water hence facilitating cleaning action. The more the bubbles, the faster the cleaning.

Ability to soften water. A good soap can soften water including hard waters. Some liquid soaps when added to hard water they tend to dissolve and form a whitish solid which forms more hardness in water. This hardness occurs in solid substances such as scum which is hard to wash away. A good soap, therefore, should have the ability to soften water by breaking the surface tension of water to allow soaping and cleaning.

Cleansing power. There are surfactants present in the soap that increase the cleaning action of soaps. They have two components where one is water based, and the other is oil based. All the dirt in fabric surfaces is oil based. The two parts of a surfactant, the oily part binds with the oily dirt which helps to dislocate it from the fabric hence forming a bubble. This bubble contains a dirt center and water-based outside which binds with the water hence washed away. This brings about cleansing ability.

Thickness. When soap is thick, the cleaning power of it is improved. It provides for the right concentration of all the components that make it up. These components facilitate the cleaning process ensuring that all the dirt is dislocated. Thickness and viscosity of a liquid soap contribute directly to its dilution ability.

Conditioning ability. The scrubbing and the whole process of cleaning the carpet is a harsh procedure that may offset the feel of it. Therefore, cleaning soaps should contain conditioning agents. These agents have a conditioning effect that can soften the fabric by offsetting the harsh effects of surfactants present in the soap.

Preservation ability. They also contain compounds that preserve them for long. When these soaps stay for long, they tend to expire. This is because they are made of water and other inorganic compounds that promote the growth of bacteria hence causing expiration.

Fragrance. Without fragrance, nothing feels fresh even after a thousand times of cleaning. The washing process should have a smell that contributes to its effectiveness. When a carpet washed and dried comes back into the room, people feel the difference because of fragrance emission. The conditioning of the atmosphere in the house is through fragrance. A cleaning soap, therefore, contains fragrance oils that help to fragrant the fabric hence fresh feel.
