The Two Main Types Of Breast Implants

By Scott White

One common type of a prosthesis process called the breast implant is being performed to people who wishes to change the size, contour, and also the shape of their breasts. In reconstructive plastic surgeries, breast implants will be placed for breasts restoration, thus making the appearance look natural. Typically, the application of this happens to patients who may have undergone a mastectomy process or may have some deformities and congenital defects in their chest walls.

The devices used in the breast implant are classified into three and these are the silicone gel, composite filler, and saline solution. But for breast implants Michigan, there are two most common types which are being used in the procedures of breast reconstruction, breast augmentation, and mammoplasty. These two are the saline implant which is filled by a saline solution and a silicone implant which is filled by gels.

In Michigan, one type which is used commonly for the prosthesis process by most of the devices is saline solution for a breasts augmentation. It is because a silicone filled type of implant is being restricted now by FDA because of some specific reasons. The technical goal of this is to make a more less invasive type of technique in surgery for emplacement of an empty device by small surgical incisions.

In surgical praxis, whenever the implants will be emplaced already inside pockets, the devices would be filled in by surgeons with saline solutions. Because insertion incisions were being required to become short and small, incision results of scars for sure are shorter and are smaller if compared to those usual scars in surgeries having longer incisions that are required for gel insertion.

Thus, if this is to be compared to the silicone gel type, this is going to yield more acceptable results for increasing the size, making it smoother and has hemisphere contour, and also has realistic texture. However, it may also have some side effects such as causing some cosmetic problems. These problems may include rippling and wrinkling of envelope skins, and accelerated lower pole stretch.

Aside from cosmetic problems, people may also be facing technical problems which include the visibility of implants and this would mean that it can be seen easily and felt if touched. Usually, cosmetic problems may occur only when a particular woman has a lesser number of tissues. Women who have undergone a post mastectomy are suggested to be implanted with silicone gels using prosthetic devices for both reconstruction and augmentation processes.

However, the gels, as one type of a medical device technology, has 5 generations. Each of this generation can be defined by specific techniques in model manufacturing. First generation is made of rubber envelope sac. The shape is the same as to a teardrop and filled in with silicone gels. For a reduction of emplacement rotation on the chest wall, it will be affixed to pockets by using fastener patches.

In second generation, a products functional development and aesthetic improvement are both featured. In third generation and fourth generation, sequential advancements of the manufacturing technology are focused. These would include elastomer coated shells so that gel bleed will decrease and will also have thicker filler gel.

And the last one is made from highly cohesive and high strength gel which most of the time will be eliminating the filler leakage occurrences. Silicone filler migrations from a pocket is also eliminated. Most commonly, the implants are referred as gummy bear implant for breasts, that is, similar to the gummy candies.
