Homeowners Can Count On Decatur Squirrel Trappers To Safely Move These Creatures Elsewhere

By Dave L. Weglin

Sharing one's home with a family of squirrels can be rather disturbing. Each of the many species of these creatures can be a bit difficult for the untrained person to easily get rid of, which is why a professional should be assigned this task. Decatur squirrel trappers will safely trap all of these furry pests and move them elsewhere so they cannot be a problem.

Normally squirrels build their nests in trees, although the attics or other crawlspaces on people's houses also prove ideal. The presence of these animals is usually noted by homeowners when they start hearing scuffling noises coming from their walls or ceilings. Rather persistent intruders, squirrels will be an even bigger problem once they reproduce.

A certified wildlife control specialist comes to the customer's residence with all necessary tools, and knowledge to completely eradicate squirrels from the building. He or she will locate all access points the creatures are using and once all of them have been caught and trapped for relocation, they will repair these areas so re-entry is not an option. Early intervention is the key to serious damage prevention and lower fees.

In most cases these experts will use live traps to ensnare the creatures without harming them and then they will be taken into the wild where they will be released. All measures taken by these companies are careful to comply with local laws pertaining to wildlife removal as well.

The most common types of traps these professionals use to ensnare unwanted squirrels in the home are the single animal live cage trap and the repeating live cage trap. The former traps the animal inside when it enters to access the bait food and steps on a trigger pan, the latter are positioned over points of entry and can trap multiple animals at one time when they leave to search for food, but it won't allow them to re-enter.

The installation of a one-way exclusion door may also be applied to any of the squirrels' access points. Somewhat similar to the repeating trap, it prevents the creatures from going back in the house, but the main difference is that unlike those traps, they are not captured but free to roam, which in itself poses the problem of their continued presence and the likelihood they will find another way inside.

Fixing any access points early on is the best way to prevent extensive damage and it also decreases the chance the squirrels will have offspring as they are known to do twice each year. Untrained people should not try to remove these animals on their own as they are likely to get hurt, harm the squirrels, or possibly break the law.
